Political Action

The Escondido Police Officers' Association (EPOA) serves its members by working toward improving working conditions, benefits, and wages for those that risk their lives to keep our community safe. To this end, the EPOA will participate in the elective process in a proactive manner through political endorsements and will support political candidates and issues that take an active role in supporting law enforcement and positive efforts that impact our community.

The EPOA will consider making endorsements for the following:
  • Federal: Senate, Congress
  • Statewide: Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Justices of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, Superintendent of Public Instruction, State Treasury
  • State Legislative: State Senators, State Representatives
  • Local/Regional: Mayor, City Council, City Attorney, Sheriff, County District Attorney, County Supervisors, County Treasurer, Judge
  • Ballot measures, initiatives, propositions, referendums and recall measures
The EPOA Political Action Committee (PAC) is responsible for making recommendations to the Board of Directors for endorsements and positions on ballot measures, initiatives, referendums and recall measures. Prior to making a recommendation to the EPOA Board of Directors, the PAC will convene to screen and interview candidates interested in a EPOA endorsement.

The screening and interview process may include a written statement of purpose by the candidate, responding to a questionnaire provided to the candidate by the PAC and a face-to-face interview. Additionally, the PAC will seek input from EPOA membership and consultants, as needed, to insure the candidate’s interests are in-line with that of the EPOA and the community at-large.

Any candidate interested in discussing an endorsement should feel free to contact the EPOA President Patrick Hall: pres.epoa@gmail.com
